Full job description

We are currently looking for a full-time Technical Applications Specialist to join our team at our Nisku location.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Overtime may be required

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, prepare, and review P&ID drawings and related technical documentation in accordance with customer specifications, process requirements, and internal standards.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical information to identify required engineering details and support accurate application review.
  • Support pump selection and application review by applying engineering fundamentals, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, pressure, flow, and temperature principles.
  • Prepare customer quotations, proposals, technical summaries, and supporting documentation by collecting, reviewing, and organizing relevant technical and commercial information.
  • Communicate with customers to clarify requirements, answer technical questions, support quotation development, and assist with active job requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors to obtain quotations, technical information, product details, lead times, and supporting documentation required for customer proposals and active projects.
  • Work closely with project management, drafting/design, procurement, shipping/receiving, and other internal stakeholders to support accurate and timely completion of job requirements.
  • Provide drawing markups, comments, and technical clarification to drafting/design and internal teams as required.
  • Assist with active jobs from quotation stage through order execution by supporting technical communication, documentation review, project coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Serve as a technical resource for internal departments on assigned product lines, applications, drawings, and customer requirements.
  • Support customer-facing and sales-related activities by helping identify suitable technical solutions that meet customer needs and project requirements.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Adhere to applicable Quality Management System requirements.
  • Adhere to applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical/Process Engineering is required.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with APEGA.
  • Drafting experience is required, including experience working with P&IDs and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, including pressure, flow, temperature, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Bluewizard PDF, and Visio is preferred.
  • Experience with pump selection, pump curves, process systems, customer specifications, technical quotations, or proposal preparation is considered an asset.
  • Customer-facing experience or sales support experience is considered an asset.

HSE Requirements:

  • Operate primarily in an office environment.
  • Involves sitting, walking, and/or standing for long periods.
  • Lifting and/or carrying up to 20lbs on a regular basis. This may include moving office supplies, files, or materials.
  • Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers and smartphones.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Training.
  • HR/HSE Orientation is required.
