Summary

We are seeking an Automation Integrator – Cheese Manufacturing to join our team at St-Albert Cheese Co-op. In this role, you will play a vital part in the design, programming, and support of automated systems throughout the cheese production process—from milk intake and curd handling to pasteurization, aging, and packaging. Your expertise in controls and integration will directly contribute to product quality, food safety compliance, and operational uptime in a dairy environment, ensuring efficiency and quality in our cheese manufacturing operations.

YOUR CHALLENGES:

  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI/SCADA-based control systems for cheese processing equipment (e.g., pasteurizers, curd cutters, vats, presses, brining tanks, and packaging lines).
  • Implement automation solutions for Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems, batch processing, and temperature/flow control.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitary design standards specific to the dairy industry, as well as FDA, USDA, and FSMA requirements.
  • Integrate sensors, valves, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and instrumentation for process control and monitoring.
  • Conduct I/O checks, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and commission control panels and automated lines.

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years of experience in automation or controls integration within a dairy or food processing environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC/HMI programming (preferably Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation).
  • Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
  • Advanced skills in technical troubleshooting and documentation management.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with batch control systems and cheese plant automation platforms (e.g., Rockwell PlantPAx, Ignition, Aveva/Wonderware).
  • Knowledge of CFIA and SQF standards, dairy traceability systems, and quality data collection.
  • Experience integrating automation with MES/ERP systems.

If you’re ready to be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and growth, we invite you to apply today and help shape the future of St-Albert Cheese Co-op!
