Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Chartered Professional Accountant to join our team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting and tax compliance with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide sound accounting and tax advice to our lawyers and clients. This role requires proficiency in tax principles, as well as experience with full-cycle accounting and tax return preparation primarily for individuals and corporations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal and provincial tax returns for individuals and businesses.
  • Analyze financial information to identify potential tax liabilities and opportunities for savings.
  • Conduct account reconciliation to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Utilize QuickBooks and CaseWare and other accounting software to maintain accurate financial records.
  • In conjunction with our lawyers, assist clients with tax planning strategies to optimize their financial outcomes.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain tax-related concepts and answer inquiries.
  • Mentor and supervise junior accountants and CPA's in-training.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Chartered Professional Accountant in private practice.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, CaseWare, and other accounting software applications.
  • Knowledge of full cycle accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to mentor and inspire junior accountants.

As a member of the team, you will enjoy our engaging but flexible work environment, which offers the support needed to achieve your family, life, and career objectives. Expect to work closely with experienced tax lawyers and accountants who can help develop your expertise in taxation.

As we are not an accounting firm in public practice, our work is spread more evenly throughout the year. The urgency and volume of work during "tax season" is much more manageable. As such, the successful candidate will escape the dreaded "tax season" associate with most public accounting firms.

Join us in providing exceptional service to our clients while advancing your career in the field of taxation!

This position is only open to individuals to possess a CPA designation in the Province of Alberta.

Pay: $40.00-$70.00 per hour
