Full job description

About the Opportunity

A well-established, privately owned group of companies in the construction supply industry is seeking a seasoned Vice President, Operations to lead operational performance across its concrete accessories and flooring distribution business, which operates across multiple warehouse and distribution locations in British Columbia.

This newly created executive role is being brought in to strengthen operational leadership across the business. The VP, Operations will bring hands-on operations expertise, strong people leadership, and the ability to build consistent standards, accountability, and structure across every location. You will report directly to the President & Owner and work alongside the General Manager, who will continue to lead sales, to ensure the business has the operational discipline and leadership needed to support its next stage of growth.

This is a high-impact role for a leader who is comfortable stepping into an organization that needs stronger operational leadership, who leads from the front, sets clear expectations, and holds people accountable — while also thinking strategically about how to scale operations across current and future locations.

What You'll Do

  • Operational Leadership & Accountability: Lead, coach, and develop the General Manager and Operations Managers — setting clear expectations for roles and behaviours, addressing performance issues directly and promptly, and building a culture of accountability, clear communication, and forward-looking performance management rather than reactive problem-solving.
  • Multi-Site Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operational performance across the Lower Mainland and Central Okanagan, and any future locations, including procurement, inventory management and cycle counts.
  • Safety Leadership: Champion a strong safety culture across all sites, ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements and consistent execution of safety programs, training, and reporting.
  • Systems Implementation: Lead the rollout of a new POS/WMS system across all locations, including development of the related SOPs, training, and change management to support a smooth transition.
  • Process & SOP Development: Build, standardize, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures across all branches to drive consistency, efficiency, and scalability as the business grows.
  • HR Partnership: Partner closely with HR on policy development, recruitment, performance management, and training programs across all locations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the General Manager and sales leadership to align operational capacity, service levels, and inventory availability with sales growth and customer commitments.
  • Strategic & Future Planning: Bring an operations lens to future growth planning, including evaluating, setting up, and standardizing operations for new warehouse locations.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, industrial, or construction materials/building supply environments.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with the full scope of warehouse operations — procurement, inventory ordering, inventory management, cycle counts, year-end inventory counts, and SOP development — comparable to having performed the role of a multi-site Operations Manager.
  • Proven track record building and leading multi-site operations teams, including direct experience managing and developing other managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to have direct, candid performance conversations and hold teams accountable — comfortable addressing issues head-on rather than avoiding them.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety requirements (WorkSafeBC, JOHSC) and safety program development.
  • Experience leading or playing a key role in a POS/WMS or ERP system implementation, including SOP development and change management, is a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to set clear expectations and deliver forward-focused, constructive feedback.
  • Strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day operational execution with longer-term planning for growth and expansion.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and willingness to travel regularly between BC locations.

Why Join Us

  • Step into a newly created executive role with direct access to ownership and real influence over the future of operations across multiple locations.
  • Join a well-established, privately owned, family-run group of companies with a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and customer service.
  • Help shape the next chapter of growth, including the operational blueprint for future expansion into new markets and locations.
  • Work in a values-driven, entrepreneurial environment that rewards accountability, common sense, and doing the right thing.

We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Pay: $165,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
