Full job description

For more than 75 years, ALCO Inc. has provided precision manual machining and portable machining services to clients across Alberta and beyond. Our reputation has been built on quality workmanship, technical expertise, and our ability to solve complex machining challenges.

With a fully equipped machine shop, large-capacity manual and CNC equipment, and industry-leading portable machining capabilities, no project is too large or too small.

We're looking for skilled, motivated Journeyman Machinists who take pride in their craft and want to join a team where their experience is valued.

Responsibilities:

As a Journeyman Machinist, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality work while maintaining ALCO's reputation for precision and craftsmanship.

· Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, vertical turret lathes (VTLs), horizontal boring mills, and CNC equipment.

· Machine components from raw material to finished products while maintaining tight tolerances.

· Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.

· Select tooling, feeds, and speeds to maximize efficiency and surface finish.

· Perform precision measurements using a variety of inspection equipment.

· Conduct quality inspections of completed work, including peer inspections when required.

· Assist with portable machining and field service projects as needed.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

· Work collaboratively with the fabrication and machining teams to deliver quality solutions for our customers.

Qualifications:

You are someone who enjoys solving machining challenges and takes pride in producing quality work the first time.

· Journeyperson Machinist Certificate or equivalent industry experience.

· Minimum 3+ years of machining experience, with strong manual machining skills.

· Experience operating manual lathes, mills, VTLs, and boring mills.

· Ability to consistently machine to tight tolerances.

· Strong blueprint reading and layout skills.

· Experience selecting tooling, feeds, and speeds independently.

· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

· Physically capable of lifting to 50 lbs.

· Reliable transportation.

· Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
