Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to lead the development of new markets for our structural and seismic products across Western North America.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in construction or manufacturing who is passionate about identifying opportunities, developing customer relationships, and driving business growth. Working at the intersection of business strategy, technical product application, and customer engagement, you will take ownership of expanding our market presence, positioning our products, and transforming technical solutions into commercial success.

Success in this role requires initiative, discipline, competitiveness, and a results-oriented mindset. You are comfortable working independently, identifying opportunities before others do, and taking ownership from strategy through execution. Success will be measured by your ability to establish new markets, build strategic customer relationships, increase market share, and generate sustainable revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of market expansion strategies throughout Western North America.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new industries, jurisdictions, customers, and market opportunities that align with the company's strategic growth objectives.
  • Develop and execute business development plans to generate new opportunities, expand market share, and achieve revenue growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with engineers, consultants, contractors, owners, government agencies, and key decision-makers.
  • Conduct technical and commercial assessments of project opportunities and contribute to go/no-go decisions.
  • Support estimating and project delivery teams by aligning customer requirements with technical solutions and commercial objectives.
  • Assist with technical registrations, product approvals, and documentation required for entry into new jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to support product commercialization, testing, and new product launches.
  • Develop technical presentations, marketing literature, and customer-focused materials tailored to target markets.
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, conferences, trade shows, and other industry events.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic business decisions.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, build relationships, and develop new business within a technical or industrial environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate technical products into successful business opportunities.
  • Highly self-motivated with exceptional initiative, ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Competitive, goal-oriented, and driven to achieve measurable business results.
  • Disciplined, organized, and capable of independently managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate both technical feasibility and commercial potential.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Canada and the United States.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Valid passport and the ability to travel between Canada and the United States without restrictions.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with a technical background in construction, manufacturing, or a related industry.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in business development, market development, strategic sales, product commercialization, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and developing new business opportunities, including launching new product lines, expanding into new markets or jurisdictions, and building customer relationships that generate measurable revenue growth.
  • Experience working with technically complex products or within the construction or manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.
