Project Manager, Engineering

Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta.

Full-time, permanent position, working in office/facility.

Introduction

We are hiring a Project Manager for our client who operates in the food manufacturing industry. This is a permanent opportunity located in Edmonton or Calgary, depending on the candidate’s location and client preferred work location for the Project Manager. The Project Manager you will be reporting into the Director of Engineering.

The Project Manager will be responsible for but not limited to, accountability for successful completion of various capital projects, providing technical support and guidance in troubleshooting plant equipment, and resolving service issues. This position provides proactive and effective support to improve systems and processes needed to increase efficiency, visibility, and issue management. The incumbent maintains a focus on supporting Plant Managers to manage their facility plans which include building repairs, construction and environmental systems.

The Project Manager will ensure productivity and successful operation of each project by ensuring improvements and production requirements align. Furthermore, they will provide leadership and support in the areas of supplier development, selection, negotiations and contract development for sourcing food equipment, building services, and other related capital spending.

Responsibilities

§ Provide technical support and guidance in troubleshooting plant equipment and services.

§ Mange various capital projects, from concept through to commissioning including budget.

§ Preparation and negotiating with vendors.

§ Schedule projects, resources and monitor project timelines.

§ Ensures all outsource trades people are knowledgeable as it relates to the company's Health and Safety policy.

§ Assist Plant Managers foster a continuous improvement culture in the manufacturing facilities.

§ Builds and maintains excellent client relationships.

§ Involved in new equipment decisions, installations, upgrades, redesigns, physical plant changes or repairs.

§ Identifies key CFIA facilities requirements for federally regulated food plants

§ Proven ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of internal and external individuals.

§ Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize a heavy workload.

§ Is accountable and takes ownership of all tasks and projects that are engaged.

§ Provide regular progress and status reports regarding technical, cost and schedule performance of projects.

Requirements

§ P.Eng designation or currently E.I.T.

§ Education: Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering Degree.

§ Achieved 5-7 years of progressive relevant experience.

§ Experience working within a food manufacturing/production environment.

§ Effective customer service.

§ Effective communication skills.

§ Ability to work in multiple sites located in Edmonton, AB.

§ Ability to travel to Calgary and other sites when needed throughout the calendar year. Travel is dependent to senior leadership needs.

§ Excellent organization and project management skills.

§ Self-starter.

§ Problem solving skills with root cause analysis experience.

§ Good verbal and written communication skills.

§ Good conceptual skills.

§ Strong working technical background.

§ Keen interest in fostering continuous improvement and moving the organization ahead.

§ Team player.

Working Conditions:

§ Work is performed both, in the manufacturing plants and in an office environment. There is a low level of risk for accidents involved however potential safety hazards include exposure to the plant environment. Travel to vendor, contractor and Government Agencies as required.

Pay: $110,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
