Job Overview
Davanac Inc, proudly serving the Canadian railway industry since 1920, is committed to delivering excellence and fostering a culture of integrity, collaboration, and innovation. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine & Hydraulic Tool Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain portable gas-powered and hydraulic tools. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working with small engines and hydraulic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in portable gas and hydraulic tools
  • Repair and service small gas engines (2-stroke and 4-stroke)
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections
  • Test equipment after repair to ensure safe and proper operation
  • Identify worn or defective components and recommend replacements
  • Follow safety procedures and manufacturer specifications

Tools & Equipment Serviced

A range of railroad specific tools, such as:

  • Portable gas-powered tools
  • Hydraulic power packs and tools
  • Hoses, fittings, and control valves

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience repairing small engines and/or hydraulic tools
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and hand tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred)

Preferred Experience

  • Small engine certification or mechanical trade training
  • Experience with brands such as Honda, Stihl, Husqvarna, Briggs & Stratton, Wacker Neuson, or similar
  • Welding or fabrication skills (an asset)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
