About the Role:


The Sanitation Supervisor leads sanitation teams to ensure facility areas and food processing equipment are cleaned and sanitized in compliance with safety standards and GMP requirements. This role partners with Operations and Quality to drive continuous improvement, investigate non-conformances, and maintain sanitation standards. By overseeing daily activities, managing sanitation schedules, and implementing corrective actions, the position ensures compliance with quality, food safety, regulatory, and customer requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Champion a Safety-First culture, ensuring compliance with health, safety, food safety, and GMP requirements.

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Sanitation team, fostering accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.

  • Manage and optimize the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) to support operational, sanitation, and production objectives.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve sanitation programs, policies, procedures, and SSOPs for the facility.

  • Serve as the sanitation subject matter expert, driving sanitation effectiveness, resource optimization, and best practices.

  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify sanitation gaps and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to optimize sanitation activities, equipment readiness, and production performance.

  • Manage departmental staffing, scheduling, budgets, inventory, and sanitation resources to achieve operational efficiency.

  • Lead sanitation training programs and ensure the safe and effective use of sanitation chemicals, tools, and equipment.

  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits while monitoring KPIs to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.


About You:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food plant sanitation, including demonstrated leadership and team coaching experience.

  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety systems, microbiology, chemical safety, and sanitation best practices.

  • Experience with wet and dry cleaning processes, including COP, CIP, chemical selection, validation techniques, and soil identification.

  • Solid understanding of workplace health and safety regulations and food manufacturing compliance requirements.

  • Proven ability to lead audits, identify risks, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Office, and POKA; experience with ISO standards and GFSI certifications (e.g., BRC, SQF) is an asset.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related field preferred.

  • Ability to work in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, including flexible schedules, industrial conditions, physical inspections, occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., and required PPE use.


Compensation: Annual Range: $69,850 - $87,300 CAD
Working Hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
Shift Details: Day shift with flexibility to support and cover varying shifts as needed in a 24/7 operation
