Senior Horizontal Boring Mill Machinist

Romac Metal Works is a leader in the custom metal machining and fabricating industry, located in Milton, ON. We are hiring for full time Senior Horizontal Boring Mill machinists capable of handling large custom work on day shift(7:30am-4pm).

The role requires a highly skilled, senior professional who is capable of taking care of the machine, the job, and the position, within a safety first, air conditioned environment.

We are looking for candidates who are proactive, have solid problem solving skills and a desire to be a contributing team member.

The successful candidate will have:

• Heidenhain and/or Toshiba Tosnuc controller experience,
• the ability to manage complex large scale machining, and
• many years of previous experience in this type of horizontal machining.

Our compensation is based on candidate's experience and ability.

Our compensation package is very competitive, including:

• 2 Romac paid vacation days (one in August and one in December) in addition to base vacation pay and stat holidays.

Our Equipment

We have overhead cranes up to to 20 Tons and our Horizontal Boring Mills have a machine travel of up to 5 metre with rotary B-Axis - Toshiba with Tosnuc controls and Tos Varnsdorf with Heidenhein controls boring mills.

Required Experience

The successful Individual will have experience with proven skills in:

• setup of machine and job fixturing,
• program editing,
• tool selection and setup,
• tool parameter setting,
• G and M code
• blueprint reading,
• detailed understanding of GD&T applicationand
• use of measuring instruments.

Desired Skills and Experience

1. Recognized Certificate of Qualification as Machinist or equivalent work experience required

2. Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills

3. Minimum of 7 years directly related machining

4. Operating knowledge of Horizontal Boring Mills

5. Ability to utilize overhead crane to lift and maneuver large work pieces safely

6. CNC programming at the control and set up abilities

7. Excellent troubleshooting skills to resolve issues with sound judgment

8. Knowledge of Mastercam is an asset

9. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

10. Sound mathematical skills

This is a Permanent Fulltime position. Our work week consists of 44 hours. Overtime is often available, but not mandatory. The base rate for compensation will be adjusted based on the candidates experience and ability.
