Summary:

The main responsibility of the machine operator is to monitor, maintain and operate the machines for daily production.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring uninterrupted production, maximizing machine output by fulfilling line speed requirements, and maintaining product quality.
  • Planning product runs and informing relevant team members to daily production schedules to fulfill orders precisely and timely.
  • Reacting fast to machine malfunctions or production hold-ups and finding effective solutions to difficulties.
  • Equipment assembly and disassembly at the start and finish of shifts.
  • Run equipment effectively and safely to reach daily production goals.
  • Proposing improvements to the process or machines as needed.
  • Notify Quality Assurance or Supervisor of any situations that can compromise food safety.
  • Use tools and supplies appropriately for every manufacturing task.
  • Maintaining the machine's optimal operation and making sure that everyone is cooperating as a team.
  • Ensure that all final specifications are met by adhering to all process instructions, protocols, and formulas; maintain correct records of lot codes, batches, and necessary data.
  • Keep workplace tidy and organized.
  • Complete all required production paperwork accurately.

Knowledge & Skills Preferences:

  • 2+ years experience as an operator in a manufacturing/food environment
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow through and resolve outstanding issues on a timely basis.
  • Must have good communication skills in English – written and verbal.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, leadership qualities, and team building skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated; is accountable and takes ownership of the role.
  • Understanding of manufacturing regulations regarding safety, quality, HACCP, GMP’s, and SOP’s.
  • Ability to physically lift to 50 lbs of product.
  • Standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
