As a member of our Personal Lines Underwriting team, you will report to the Team Lead, Personal Lines Underwriting and play a key role in delivering exceptional service while ensuring sound underwriting decisions.

Position Overview:

As the Underwriter, Personal Lines, you will be responsible for underwriting residential, automobile and commercial automobile risks.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Underwriting personal lines new business, renewals, and policy changes.
  • Assessing residential and automobile risks within authority limits.
  • Communicating underwriting decisions to brokers and stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining strong broker relationships.
  • Mentoring and supporting less experienced underwriting team members.
  • Contributing to process improvements and special projects.

Requirements for the successful candidate:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of personal lines underwriting experience.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CIP designation or active pursuit of CIP designation is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of residential and automobile insurance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and underwriting systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support the development of others.
  • Automobile/Commercial Auto underwriting experience is considered an asset.
