Group Summary:

The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and promotes a work environment based on fairness and concern for people, in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee Charter.
  • Responsible and accountable to lead, manage, support and provide direction to all staff within the department through effective goals/objectives setting, performance monitoring and reviews, communication, and the execution of on-the-job training and development plans.
  • Ensures a robust department structure by maintaining effective staffing levels and creating succession plans and related employee development plans to support current and future needs.
  • Develops and executes an annual strategic plan for the department supporting company performance objectives and industry/field related benchmarking and trends.
  • Promote and sustain Standardization (Standard work/1 pc flow/ Cycle time adherence)
  • Responsible for promoting and achieving Kaizen activities in all department groups Implementation of the Magna Production System (MPS/TPS) Principles
  • Collects, measures and monitors data related to the overall effectiveness of the department; benchmarking and analyzing these trends to establish action plans for continuous improvement (QOS process).
  • Develops and implements new processes and procedures, as needed to support changing business demands.
  • Facilitates effective two-way communication through department meetings (minimum monthly) and an Open-Door philosophy.
  • Maintains continuous improvement of the department and keep current with new products, processes, materials and equipment technologies
  • Ensures visibility and accessibility to employees, by practicing Management by Walking Around (MBWA).
  • Accountable for department budget preparation, approval and attainment.
  • Take a leadership role in improving assembly efficiency and effectiveness through implementing projects, challenging and modifying operating practices, and continuous improvement of ongoing operations
  • Maintain schedule attainment within established levels
  • Responsible to lead the scheduled production meeting with the assigned Cross Functional Team (CFT) to ensure all open issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure all customer-shipping requirements are achieved and product is built to the prescribed quality level
  • Supports pillars of production (No Good/Down Time/Cycle Time and Continuous Improvement)
  • Supports TWI (Training within Industry) process for training effectiveness
  • Supports and encourages the Employee Involvement (EI) process throughout the plant.
  • Utilize the Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) process to ensure all employees within the department are treated fairly and consistently with respect to supervision, guidance, coaching and training
  • Ensures confidentiality of all proprietary and human resources related information.
  • Overtime and travel may be required to support achievement of objectives.
  • Involvement in the accident/incident investigation program, determine root causes, correct actions and following-up to ensure completion.
  • Seeks out and corrects unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring all health and safety policies are followed.
  • Conducts planned workplace inspections, as scheduled by the Environmental, Health and Safety Department.
  • Responsible for ensuring succession plans are in place for all critical positions by identifying, developing and retaining of high-performing and high-potential future leaders.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 7 or more years of work-related manufacturing or production experience.
  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience required.

Salary Range: $108,000 to $125,000 annually
