Our technical department is the backbone of our company. As a technician, you will have the opportunity to engage in all facets of our operations. You will begin by taking on entry-level installation tasks, but as you progress, we will invest in advanced training to ensure your continued success and professional development within the organization.

We are seeking a skilled Installation Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the removal, installation, and maintenance of various mobile communication systems and related equipment. This includes mobile data terminals, emergency lighting, vehicle camera systems, security screens, vehicle consoles, and vehicle tracking devices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Disassemble and reassemble vehicle components such as trim, seats, lights, headliners, and carpet to effectively route wiring and install required equipment in motor vehicles, heavy machinery, or other equipment.
• Assess job requirements to determine optimal equipment placement and installation parameters.

Required Knowledge:

• Basic understanding of electronics and mobile communications systems, including two-way radios, CB radios, hands-free kits, AVLs, and boosters.
• Familiarity with provincial and federal environmental regulations related to hazardous materials used in fleet services.

Skills Required:

• Skilled in the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
• Ability to use tablets and computers for installation notes and work order management.
• Safe operation of fleet shop equipment such as bench grinders, drill presses, and more.

Core Abilities:

• Follow both written and verbal instructions for the installation, removal, and maintenance of mobile communication devices.
• Interpret gauges, dials, meters, graphs, and wiring diagrams to ensure proper installation, testing, and repair of mobile communication systems.
• Effectively install, repair, or remove vehicle equipment by assembling, disassembling, and replacing parts as needed.
• Assist in vehicle modifications, including fabrication and installation of special components.
• Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
• Maintain productive working relationships with coworkers and clients.
• Read and understand technical manuals, troubleshooting guides, and manufacturer specifications related to mobile communications systems.
• Differentiate between wire colors to ensure proper electrical connections.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

• Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods.
• Capability to lift and carry items up to 30 pounds over short distances.
• Willingness to work in varying outdoor weather conditions and moderate to loud noise levels.
• Willingness to travel out of town, and for overnight trips.
• Adherence to corporate safety policies and procedures, as well as Industry Canada regulations.
• Compliance with corporate Substance Abuse Policy guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass background checks, including a police and motor vehicle check.
• Experience with hand tools and a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Equivalent hands-on experience in the field.

• 8:30 am-5 pm Monday through Friday
