At ATB, we exist to make it possible for our clients, team members and communities. Our purpose is more than aspirational. It's a real commitment we live every day through our values (what we call the ATB ID).

Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we’re consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members:

Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.

Thrive together: We want you—the unique, authentic you—to feel safe and celebrated at work. We're on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs.

Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.

About the role

The Director, Investment Product Development and Management is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the end-to-end lifecycle of investment products at ATB Investment Management Inc (ATBIM). This individual in partnership with multiple cross functional teams will lead strategic product initiatives, from initial ideation and business case development to market launch and ongoing lifecycle management.

The ideal candidate is a proactive Subject Matter Expert (SME) who can operate with high independence and collaborate/ coordinate across internal teams to identify market gaps and translate them into actionable product concepts. Beyond strategic oversight, this is a "hands-on" role requiring the ability to personally draft high-quality technical content, including product positioning and sales narratives, while coordinating across internal teams to ensure data accuracy and timely execution.

Accountabilities

  • Product Strategy & Development
    • Business Case Leadership: Lead the development and presentation of robust business cases for new investment product launches.
    • Market Intelligence: Conduct in-depth analysis of Canadian and global investment markets to identify key trends, growth drivers, and competitive gaps in the ATB shelf.
    • Initiative Management: Drive and manage multiple product oriented initiatives, ensuring all workstreams—including compliance, legal, and operational infrastructure—are aligned and meet established deadlines. This will require a partnership approach to meet established deadlines.
    • Collaborative Execution: Adopting a partnership-driven strategy is essential to achieving all defined project timelines.
    • Client-Centric Content: Must bring forward the voice of the client/advisor to the material we create in partnership with our principal distributor and the sales distribution team.
  • Content Excellence & SME Leadership
    • Content Generation: Directly author clear and compelling product positioning, value propositions, and benefit statements for all investment solutions.
    • Internal Coordination: Proactively engage with subject matter experts (SMEs) across the research and portfolio management teams to obtain and validate data for product materials, ensuring full ownership of final outputs.
    • Sales Enablement: Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to create effective messaging and advisor training materials that articulate the unique benefits of our products.
  • Management & Stakeholder Alignment
    • Project Oversight: Support the management of the product development roadmap, ensuring transparency and providing regular status updates to senior leadership.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between Portfolio Management, Sales, Marketing, Compliance, and Legal to ensure products remain competitive and compliant.
    • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external service providers while bringing technical expertise in-house to improve efficiency.

Skills, experience & requirements

  • 7+ Years of progressive experience in investment product development, management, or research.
  • Must have a completed Bachelor's degree ideally with a major in Finance, Economics, Business or other related field. CFA designation or other relevant industry designation completed or in progress is preferred.
  • Deep expertise in diverse asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income, and Alternative Investments.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and platforms such as Morningstar Direct, eVestment, or Bloomberg.
  • Exceptional written skills with a proven ability to translate complex investment concepts into market-ready narratives.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across diverse cross-functional teams, fostering strong partnerships to achieve collective goals and drive project success.

Don’t meet all the requirements on the list?
A resume only goes so far in expressing who you are and the unique perspectives you bring. If you believe your skills and experience align with the role—but you might not check all the boxes—we want to hear from you. We encourage candidates from all work backgrounds, equity-seeking communities and experience levels to apply. If you’re seeking a career where your drive, perspective and growth are celebrated, we want to hear from you.

We’re dedicated to building a workforce reflective of those within our communities, and a culture where our team members are equipped with what they need to succeed—their way. Part of creating an inclusive workplace is recognizing our role in advancing Truth and Reconciliation. We are committed to meeting and exceeding the standards set out in the Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations program created by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.
