GNF Commercial Management Limited is hiring Estimator Assistants to support civil, residential, and commercial construction projects across Halifax and the surrounding region.

In this role, you will support the estimating process by reviewing project drawings, preparing quantity take-offs, assessing material and subcontractor costs, and helping produce accurate estimates for active construction and development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions, access, and risks
  • Prepare quantity take-offs, tender estimates, RFIs, and RFPs
  • Assess material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Review supplier and subcontractor quotes
  • Use estimating software, historical data, and market trends
  • Assist with reports, cost breakdowns, and internal presentations
  • Maintain pricing databases for materials and labour
  • Support project schedules, budgets, and resource planning
  • Maintain organized documentation throughout the estimating process

Requirements

  • Experience as a civil estimator or assistant estimator in construction
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, materials, methods, and codes
  • Experience with quantity take-offs and cost assessments
  • Familiarity with estimating tools and software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with digital drawing review tools is an asset
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to prioritize and problem-solve under pressure
