Full job description

Overview

We’re looking for a creative, strategic, and people-focused Marketing Manager to lead how UNA pizza + wine shows up in the world from social media and marketing campaigns to the music, decor, events, reviews, and little details that shape a guest’s experience in our restaurants. This role blends big-picture marketing strategy with hands-on execution and a sharp eye for the guest experience, ensuring UNA continues to feel relevant, memorable, and unmistakably UNA across every touchpoint.

Organization Description

UNA Restaurants Canada (URC) embodies a local restaurant concept that specializes in California-style thin crust pizzas, curated boutique wines, and dedication to sourcing local ingredients. Taking inspiration from ingredient-centric culinary traditions found in the Mediterranean and California, the restaurant's core objective is to curate an unparalleled dining experience for its community. Influenced by the lively dining landscape of San Francisco, where such establishments serve as cornerstones of neighborhoods, URC aspires to replicate this anchoring role in both the Calgary and Saskatoon communities. By fostering an environment that is inviting and all-encompassing, URC aims to become an enduring fixture.

Equity Commitment

UNA Restaurants Canada (URC). takes its responsibility as an employer and is committed to equal opportunity. We are committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment. URC committed to upholding the highest of standards in relation to internal equity, inclusion, diversity and anti-racism. We offer the opportunity to all staff members to assist in the recruitment practices used within our operation. This includes, but not limited to: sharing job opportunities, challenging recruitment standards, inclusion in group interviews and participation in unique professional development opportunities. We will take steps necessary to ensure that our vision and values are upheld internally. We understand that Diversity and Inclusion are not simply buzzwords and need to be understood and taken seriously within the business. We strive to be inclusive in all hiring practices, training and development provisions. We understand that true inclusion removes all barriers, discrimination and intolerance. When applied properly in the workplace, it is natural for everyone to feel included and supported.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following)

Marketing Strategy & Brand

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies that build brand awareness, drive traffic, support sales, and strengthen UNA’s position in the market.
  • Translate UNA’s brand, values, and personality into campaigns and experiences that feel authentic, creative, and consistent across all locations.
  • Build and manage marketing calendars, campaigns, promotions, launches, partnerships, and seasonal initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the brand through local marketing, community partnerships, events, collaborations, and other creative initiatives.
  • Work closely with leadership, operations, culinary, and creative partners to ensure marketing plans are aligned with business priorities.
  • Support new location openings and major initiatives with thoughtful, strategic marketing plans from pre-launch through ongoing growth.

Social Media, Content & Creative

  • Own UNA’s social media strategy and day-to-day presence across relevant platforms.
  • Develop content that captures the personality, people, food, culture, and community behind UNA.
  • Plan and coordinate photo and video shoots, content creation, campaigns, and social calendars.
  • Lead graphic design and creative development for marketing materials across digital, print, in-restaurant, and promotional channels.
  • Maintain consistency across brand assets, ensuring UNA looks and feels like UNA wherever guests encounter us.
  • Stay current on social media trends, platform changes, and emerging opportunities without chasing trends that don’t make sense for the brand.
  • Work with external creative partners, photographers, designers, printers, and other suppliers as needed.

Marketing Analytics & Performance

  • Track, analyze, and report on marketing performance across social, digital, promotional, and campaign channels.
  • Use data and insights to understand what is working, what isn’t, and where there are opportunities to improve.
  • Monitor key marketing and guest metrics and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Manage marketing budgets and ensure resources are being invested thoughtfully and effectively.
  • Use guest, sales, social, and other available data to inform future campaigns and marketing strategy.

Guest Experience & Brand Touchpoints

  • Own and continually evolve the guest experience beyond the food and service — including music, decor, signage, in-restaurant communications, events, and other guest-facing details.
  • Monitor guest reviews, feedback, and sentiment across platforms, identifying trends and opportunities to improve the overall experience.
  • Develop processes for collecting, responding to, and learning from guest feedback.
  • Partner with location leaders to address recurring guest experience opportunities and ensure feedback is translated into action.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of guest-facing events, activations, and experiences that bring the UNA brand to life.
  • Ensure music, artwork, decor, menus, signage, and other guest-facing elements are aligned with the UNA brand and create a cohesive experience across locations.
  • Regularly visit locations to experience UNA through the eyes of a guest and identify opportunities to make the experience better, more memorable, or more distinctly UNA.

Community, Partnerships & Events

  • Build meaningful relationships with community organizations, local businesses, artists, creators, and brand partners.
  • Lead and support community initiatives that reflect UNA’s values and strengthen our connection to the neighbourhoods we operate in.
  • Develop and execute events and activations that drive awareness, engagement, and community connection.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, collaborations, sponsorships, and local marketing initiatives.
  • Support UNA’s commitment to being an active and positive member of every community we operate in.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with location leaders, operations, culinary, HR, finance, and executive leadership to ensure marketing and guest experience initiatives support the broader business.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently across locations, ensuring teams understand the why behind marketing campaigns and guest experience initiatives.
  • Provide locations with the tools, resources, and direction they need to execute consistently while allowing room for local personality.
  • Act as a brand champion across the organization, helping teams understand that every guest-facing detail contributes to the UNA experience.
  • Bring a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to projects from idea through execution.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of marketing strategy, social media, content creation, and brand development.
  • Excellent creative instincts with strong graphic design and visual communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, locations, and priorities at once.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and turn insights into action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong understanding of brand voice.
  • Strong eye for detail and a genuine interest in the guest experience.
  • Confident working independently while collaborating effectively across a fast-moving team.
  • Comfortable moving between strategy and execution.
  • Passion for food, hospitality, restaurants, community, and creating experiences people want to come back to.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and relevant social media, analytics, design, and marketing platforms.
  • Experience in hospitality, restaurants, retail, or another guest-facing industry is an asset.
