Full job description

Big Bear Trading Company is looking for a dynamic individual with retail and supervisory experience to be our Assistant Store Manager! The Assistant Store Manager works closely with the Store Manager to lead and coach the team to achieve operational goals, deliver exceptional customer experiences, foster culture, and drive sales growth. The Assistant Store Manager lives and breathes our core values of Passion, Teamwork, Integrity, and Excellence.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Participate in the hiring process and train new team members.
  • Provide consistent mentorship and guidance to all team members to build a high-performing team.
  • Work towards sales targets and enforce team motivation to meet these targets.
  • Welcome and assist customers in an authentically engaging manner; recommend merchandise based on customer needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of products, promotions, sales, store policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
  • Assist the Store Manager with preparing daily task lists, delegating responsibilities, monitoring labour efficiency, and minimizing overtime.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are being followed in all store-related areas.
  • Process warehouse deliveries, online orders, supply & coin orders, and transfer damaged merchandise.
  • Ensure the store is tidy and inviting and perform merchandising flips when needed.

On your application, we’ll be looking for the following qualifications:

  • 1+ years of retail experience.
  • Proven teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Experience in visual merchandising, operational excellence, and KPI achievement.
  • Comfortable supervising teams and delegating tasks.
  • Flexible to adapt to the needs of the store and the team.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, point-of-sale, and payroll software.
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
