H-Line Enterprises is seeking applicants for the position of

Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician/Mechanic or Block 3 Apprentice

H-Line Enterprises is seeking applicants for full-time Red Seal Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician/Mechanic or Block 3 Apprentice training in the same field to work from our workshop in Stratford PEI.

Under the general supervision of the Shop Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for performing major and minor repairs and preventative maintenance on various types of equipment, and be committed to excellent customer service, able to prioritize numerous competing requests while maintaining excellent relationships with both internal and external customers.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be a Grade 12 graduate and hold a Red Seal (Journeyman) Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Service Technician, or Red Seal (Journeyman) Truck and Transport Mechanic. Apprentices working towards their Red Seal and obtained their Block 3 will also be considered.

The successful candidate will have the following but not limited to skills and knowledge:

  • Experience and/or training in working with hydraulic and electro-hydraulic booms would be an advantage.
  • Ideally have a minimum of five years working as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic or Truck and Transport Mechanic, preferably with electric utility experience
  • Experience with diagnosing and repairing mechanical, structural, electrical, and hydraulic systems for automotive, heavy duty, and utility vehicles and equipment.

· Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical/energy industry would be an asset.

  • Excellent working knowledge of hydraulic systems related to radial boom diggers and aerial devices.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members and customers (both internal and external); this includes excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient computer skills - working knowledge of Internet Browsers, Microsoft Word, Outlook, excel including development and maintenance of basic spreadsheets and formulas, general computer knowledge, and aptitude for learning new applications.
  • Solid organizational, analytic skills with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.

· Dependent on experience, the candidate may be required to do mobile/field repairs at job sites Island wide, with potential travel off island for storms and potential after hours repair calls.

· Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Class 3 Driver’s license with air brake endorsement.

The starting rate of pay for a Heavy Equipment Technician will be between $25.00-$42.00 per hour dependent on level and experience.
