About the Role

We're looking for a Full-Stack Web Developer to join our growing team at Canada Gold. This is a hybrid position based in either Ottawa or Vancouver, supporting the development, maintenance, and expansion of our websites across Canada.

In this role, you'll work closely with our Web Development and Marketing teams to maintain CanadaGold.ca and our regional store websites, support e-commerce development, and ensure our digital platforms remain accurate, secure, and user-friendly.

You'll take ownership of website updates, server management, technical troubleshooting, and performance optimization while supporting the launch of new regional websites. A key responsibility will be maintaining accurate, real-time pricing information across our network of websites.

We're looking for someone who is technically skilled, organized, and proactive. You enjoy solving problems, improving digital experiences, and collaborating with others to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.

What You’ll Do

Website Development & Maintenance

  • Develop, maintain, and improve CanadaGold.ca and associated regional store websites.
  • Support e-commerce functionality, website integrations, and new feature development.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time pricing tables and ensure consistent data synchronization across websites.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, resolve bugs, and ensure websites remain accurate and operational.
  • Optimize websites for SEO, speed, mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and overall performance.
  • Maintain consistent design, functionality, and brand standards across digital platforms.

Server Management & Website Expansion

  • Manage dedicated hosting environments, including server performance, security, backups, SSL certificates, and updates.
  • Maintain WordPress plugins, DNS settings, and domain configurations.
  • Support the launch, migration, and ongoing maintenance of new regional websites.
  • Ensure regional websites contain accurate store information, pricing, content, and SEO metadata.
  • Maintain consistency across websites while supporting location-specific customization.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Design, and other internal teams to implement website updates and new features.
  • Coordinate technical requests, communicate timelines, and provide troubleshooting support across departments.
  • Monitor website performance using analytics and optimization tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve website functionality, user experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Stay informed on web development best practices, emerging technologies, and relevant digital tools.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of professional web development experience, ideally supporting multiple websites.
  • Advanced proficiency with WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Strong back-end development experience, with front-end development capabilities considered an asset.
  • Experience launching websites, managing migrations, and maintaining hosting environments.
  • Knowledge of dedicated server management, DNS, SSL certificates, backups, and website security.
  • Experience working with dynamic pricing tools, caching systems, and website integrations.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, website performance optimization, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, or similar tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with technical and non-technical teams.
  • A proactive, self-directed mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and delivering reliable solutions.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms, payment integrations, or UX/UI design is an asset.
  • Familiarity with multilingual websites, particularly French or Simplified Chinese, is an asset.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting multi-location retail or service businesses is an asset.

What Success Looks Like

  • Canada Gold's websites remain secure, reliable, accurate, and consistently maintained.
  • Real-time pricing information is synchronized accurately across all regional websites.
  • New websites and digital features are launched efficiently and meet established quality standards.
  • Website speed, SEO performance, accessibility, and user experience continue to improve.
  • Technical issues are identified and resolved promptly with minimal disruption.
  • Internal teams receive responsive technical support and clear communication.
  • Website systems and processes continue to evolve to support business growth.

What We Offer

  • $60,000–$65,000 CAD annually, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive employee benefits package.
  • Hybrid working arrangement with remote work flexibility.
  • The opportunity to work on meaningful digital projects within a growing Canadian company.
  • A collaborative, supportive working environment where your contributions make a direct impact.
  • Opportunities for professional growth through hands-on projects, mentorship, and collaboration.

Schedule

  • Full-time, permanent position.
  • Hybrid work arrangement based in Ottawa, ON or Vancouver, BC.
