Island Kids Academy Esquimalt is searching for fun, flexible, creative and reliable substitute ECE's and ECEAs to join our team!

ECE/IT applicants preferred; ECEA applicants welcome

Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and caring Casual Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Substitute to join our team on an on-call basis. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with young children and are looking for flexible hours in a supportive childcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children
  • Support daily routines, including meals, playtime, and rest periods
  • Implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development
  • Maintain positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and centre policies
  • Step into classrooms as needed to maintain proper staff-to-child ratios

Qualifications:

  • Valid ECE License/Certification (or ECE Assistant certification, if applicable)
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification
  • Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility and reliability for on-call scheduling

Assets:

  • Previous experience in a childcare or preschool setting
  • Knowledge of child development and inclusive practices
