Aseniwuche Winewak Group of Companies, located in Grande Cache, Alberta, is comprised of two corporations: Aseniwuche Development Corporation (ADC) and Aseniwuche Environmental Corporation (AEC). ADC offers general contracting, metal fabrication and automotive services to its clientele and AEC provides environmental protection solutions. Aseniwuche Winewak Group of Companies (AGC) is fully owned by Aseniwuche Winewak Nation of Canada, A Fellowship of Aboriginal People (AWN), a Cree-speaking people whose ancestors thrived in the Rocky Mountains and continue to live a distinctive cultural way of life.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Advisor supports the delivery of human resources services across the AWN Group of Companies. As a trusted partner to managers and employees, this role contributes to a respectful, fair, and inclusive workplace while supporting day-to-day HR operations.

The HR Advisor plays a key role in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and policy administration, while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable legislation. This position works collaboratively with leadership to support organizational goals and enhance employee engagement.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

Human Resources Operations

  • Coordinate and support recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Prepare and maintain employee documentation such as employment contracts, job descriptions, performance reviews, and personnel records.
  • Assist in administering performance management and compensation processes.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits and training and development programs.
  • Support attendance management, return-to-work coordination, and accommodation processes.
  • Participate in investigations, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution as required.

Policy & Compliance

  • Ensure HR practices comply with company policies and applicable employment legislation.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Provide guidance to managers and supervisors on HR-related matters, including policy interpretation and best practices.
  • Support training initiatives related to workplace policies, health and wellness, and compliance requirements.

Reporting & Administrative Support

  • Prepare HR reports and documentation for leadership as required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Support HR planning initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in a human resources role.
  • Working knowledge of employment standards, human rights, and privacy legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • CPHR designation (or working toward) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Cree language and/or culture is an asset.

This role is based in Grande Cache, located in the northern part of the Rocky Mountains. This vibrant community offers, sparkling lakes, rushing rivers, green valleys, and windswept peaks with an abundance of trails, big game, alpine flowers, and spectacular waterways. If you are a photographer, artist, golfer, rafter, kayaker, hiker, biker, paddler, horseback rider, cross-country skier, or hunter, this is the community for you! The successful applicant must live in Grande Cache or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is negotiable.

Pay: $87,339.00-$102,058.00 per year
