We are a growing Design, Engineering & Manufacturing company based in South Surrey with clients across North America. Our 40-person team manufactures everything from one-off custom products for the entertainment industry; to high volume products for a specific customer, to in-house products and systems, and sells them through a variety of distribution channels to multiple markets and customer segments.

If you are an energetic, driven and excited about manufacturing, cost estimating and design, you might be the perfect fit to join our team as a Manufacturing Technologist (Estimating & Design).

OVERVIEW:

You're the technical bridge between customer vision and manufactured reality. Starting with customer ideas, whether rough sketches, partial specs, or fully detailed drawings, you translate them into manufacturable products with accurate cost estimates, detailed specifications, BOMs, and shop drawings ready for production.

If you're someone who thinks technically first, approaches design challenges with practical creativity and gets satisfaction from turning someone else's vision into a buildable product with a real price tag, this role will suit you well.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Estimate costs for products using in-house estimating tools to enable the sales team to negotiate the contract with the customer
  • Prepare technical designs of client-driven projects from detailed design through release to manufacturing, representing the needs of the customer while balancing cost and the capabilities and capacities of the manufacturing team
  • Produce production ready Solidworks models, drawings, BOMs, specifications and other details to fully communicate the requirements for the project to the manufacturing team

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A demonstrated ability to think analytically (in terms of costs and specifications) and creatively (in terms of physical designs and conceptualizing in 3D space)
  • A degree or certificate in an advanced education program related to manufacturing and/or design
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design/engineering department of a manufacturing company
  • Proficiency in 3D Modelling software (SolidWorks), including modeling, rendering and drafting principles and techniques and GD&T
  • Proficiency with Office Suite, specifically Excel spreadsheet (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, specifically with multi-level BOMs and product specifications
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing constraints and processes with an ability to estimate cost
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical customers
  • An ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) an asset
  • A strong positive temperament and an optimistic approach to problem solving
  • A natural diligence and attention to detail and a passion for producing high quality work in a timely manner.
