Core Responsibilities

  • Driving large tanker trucks or tractor-trailers to deliver corrosive chemicals like hydrochloric or sulfuric acid to remote work sites.
  • Managing the safe transfer of bulk fluids, which involves "rigging up" acid equipment, connecting hoses, and gauging tanks to ensure precise volumes.
  • Adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations, including proper labeling and maintaining accurate manifests.
  • Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the vehicle is mechanically sound, and conducting minor maintenance on acid-handling equipment.
  • Completing daily trip logs, bill of lading forms, and safety paperwork correctly and on time.

Key Qualifications

  • A valid Class 1 (or CDL Class A) driver’s license with a clean abstract is standard.
  • Mandatory safety tickets include TDG (Dangerous Goods), H2S Alive, WHMIS, and First Aid/CPR.
  • 3–5 years of experience in oilfield fluid hauling or handling chemical tankers.
  • The ability to lift at least 50 lbs, work in remote areas, and endure extreme weather conditions or long shifts (often 12–14 hours).

Work Environment

The job is often fast-paced and performed in dynamic environments like active oil and gas lease sites. It requires a high degree of independent work without direct supervision, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as respirators and acid-resistant suits.
