Position: Corporate Accountant
Location: Edmonton, AB (Full time In-Office)
Department: Finance
Reports To: Corporate Accounting Manager
Status: Full-Time

About the Role:

The Corporate Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and reporting activities of the organization. This role provides exposure to a broad range of corporate accounting functions, including month-end close, account reconciliations, regulatory compliance, treasury activities, and audit preparation.

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is committed to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting strong internal controls, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. This role works closely with departments across the organization and plays an important part in supporting the Company's ongoing growth and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare month-end journal entries and supporting working papers.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and continuity schedules.
  • Support the full-cycle accounting and reporting process across Morgan and its affiliate entities.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
  • Assist with debt accounting and related reconciliations.
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
  • Prepare GST, HST, PST, and other regulatory filings, including supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Support First Nations partnership commission calculations and related reporting requirements.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and assist with treasury and banking activities.
  • Prepare audit working papers and support external audit requests.
  • Support the administration of the Company's employee expense management program, including SAP Concur user maintenance, policy compliance monitoring, issue resolution, and employee support.
  • Review and reconcile employee out-of-pocket expense claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and accurate accounting treatment.
  • Provide administrative support for the Company's Purchase Order program, including system maintenance, user support, training, and process monitoring.
  • Investigate discrepancies and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
  • Assist with maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and internal controls.
  • Participate in special projects and other corporate accounting initiatives as assigned

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and financial software.
  • Construction, project-based, or industrial industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
