The Company

Double J Energy Solutions is based in Alberta and operates a fleet of Excavators and Loaders in the oil and gas industry across the Western Provinces. We work in a team atmosphere that encompasses open communication, professional standards, excellent performance, safety awareness, and cost efficiency for the client.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operations Manager - Oilfield Services who will be responsible for all aspects of projects assigned. The position is accountable for ensuring safety, efficiency, and consistency in field operations, motivating, and mentoring staff, and serving as a key link between field teams and management.

Applicants must have extensive oilfield experience related to drilling rig support, drilling rig operations, excavator operations, mechanical equipment, and drilling-rig cuttings support.

Candidates without relevant oilfield experience will not be considered.

Position Details

Site Attendance and Conduct: Professional attitude with onsite Operator Representative and staff. Ensure preparedness including appropriate PPE. Monitor and advocate for good housekeeping at all locations including camps. Coordinate job moves, perform onsite inspections, review completion and accuracy of submitted reporting by employees, monitor inventory.

Human Resources: Full scope recruiting and onboarding. Verify and maintain all certification tracking, provide mentorship, scope clarifications, rotation scheduling, and conflict resolution.

Equipment & Maintenance: Monitor VisionLink and ensure machines are operational and flags are addressed. Perform basic maintenance and/or scheduling of required third party contractors, including oil sampling/reporting. Complete all necessary inspections and track that crews are completing and submitting daily, weekly, and monthly reports in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Maintain site consumables and service requirements, including conscientious cost monitoring.

Safety: Collaborate with Safety Consultant, as required, to help manage safety program (COR), ensure employees are following all safety and Company policies, track and collect the safety forms, as required by the operator, ensuring safe operations are maintained in the field; communicate safety concerns to management.

Accounting/Administration: Coordinate and submit paperwork, including but not limited to, daily operations encompassing employee timesheet to administration/accounting to ensure timely cashflow such as payroll, accounts payables, and accounts receivables. Prior to payroll, review and ensure accuracy of all employee time.

Skills / Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of applicable oilfield experience.
  • Extensive experience with excavators and heavy equipment in an oilfield environment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of heavy equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience with drilling rig support and drilling-rig cuttings operations.
  • Previous experience in operations management, field supervision, or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of drilling rig operations, field logistics, equipment requirements, and 24-hour oilfield operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage field personnel in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience coordinating crews, equipment, scheduling, mobilizations, and changing field requirements.
  • Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding experience.
  • Strong understanding of employee scheduling and crew management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, management, customers, and vendors.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to verify information and follow through on responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative, and can operate without constant direction.
  • Adaptable and able to respond quickly when operational requirements change.
