About The Acadia Community Association

The Acadia Community Association (ACA) is a volunteer-led, nonprofit organization dedicated to building a connected, active, and welcoming neighbourhood in southeast Calgary. For decades, the ACA has supported community programs, recreation, events, and local initiatives that bring people together across all ages and stages of life.

At the heart of our work is the Acadia Recreation Complex - a multi-use community facility that hosts sports, programs, rentals, and events seven days a week. We are currently in an exciting period of growth and organizational renewal, focused on strengthening operations, improving systems, and building a supportive workplace culture.

About the Role

Our Guest Relations / Receptionist team members are the first point of contact for our community. This role blends warm, professional guest service with light administrative and operational support.

This is not a “sit behind a desk” job. it’s an engaged, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and contributing to a well-run community space.

We’re looking for people who value:

  • Reliability and accountability
  • Kind, respectful customer service
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • Teamwork and clear communication
  • Taking initiative and following things through

Primary Schedule Requirement

This role is a part-time role with the shifts occurring week nights and weekends. Weeknight schedule will begin at 4pm. Weekend shifts could be either day or evening.

Compensation

$18 - $20 per hour, depending on experience and role responsibilities.

Growth & Long-Term Opportunity

This position is ideal for someone who wants more than just a shift-based role. As the ACA continues to strengthen operations and expand programming, there will be opportunities to develop new skills, take on increased responsibility, and contribute meaningfully to how our organization serves the community.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Relations

  • Welcome and assist guests in person and by phone
  • Process payments and POS transactions
  • Support rentals, programs, and event inquiries
  • Maintain a visible and professional reception presence
  • Communicate with Facilities and other departments
  • Assist with end-of-shift close-up and daily handover notes

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Log completed contracts weekly
  • Update room availability in the booking system
  • Assist with membership purchases and registrations
  • File and organize documents in Google Drive
  • Support small bookings and inquiries as assigned
  • Assist with basic website updates or Canva graphics (training provided if needed)
  • Help keep administrative systems organized and current

Qualifications

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a public-facing role
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets)
  • Able to learn booking systems and POS software
  • Canva or basic graphic experience is an asset
  • Previous reception, admin, recreation, hospitality, or retail experience is an asset

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Be part of a community-first organization where your work genuinely matters
  • Build a broad skill set across guest service, administration, and operations
  • Work independently and be trusted to own your shifts
  • Help create positive experiences for hundreds of community members each week
  • Join a supportive team during an exciting period of growth and improvement
  • Flexible part-time hours with meaningful responsibility
