Full job description
At KPMG in Canada, our people bring their unique perspectives to Canada’s most important challenges. Here, you can build momentum that reaches beyond our business, develop skills for the future, and take ownership of your career with support at every stage. Join a firm where your career can make a difference.
KPMG's Audit practice helps clients manage risk so they can focus on their core businesses. By intimately understanding the client's business, we convert information into insights to uncover hidden opportunities to improve client efficiency and performance.
Join KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services team, where you’ll support clients with core finance operations and controllership activities. In this role, you’ll work closely with private and public companies across industries to help maintain accurate financial records, support reporting processes, and strengthen financial controls.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team providing hands-on support across core accounting and financial reporting functions, including bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, month‑end, quarter-end and year‑end close, and preparation of financial statements under IFRS, US GAAP, and ASPE. Your work will help ensure timely, reliable financial information that management and stakeholders can depend on.
This role is well suited for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys hands‑on work, takes ownership of assigned deliverables, and works closely with client finance teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information. You’ll communicate clearly with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders and help translate accounting requirements into efficient, well‑documented processes. The position offers exposure to a range of organizations and opportunities to deepen your controllership skills, operational accounting expertise, and client relationship experience.
- Perform day‑to‑day accounting and controllership activities for private and public company clients across various industries
- Execute bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy
- Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including preparation of working papers and financial statements
- Apply practical accounting knowledge under IFRS, US GAAP, and ASPE to routine and recurring reporting matters
- Work with a variety of accounting systems and general ledger platforms, adapting quickly to different client environments
- Identify reconciling items, errors, and process gaps, and escalate issues and observations to Senior Managers or Managers as appropriate
- Liaise with client finance teams to obtain information, clarify balances, and support smooth close processes
- Contribute to engagement documentation and assist in maintaining organized, well‑supported files
- Post-secondary degree required
- 3-5 years of experience in audit and/or accounting advisory and/or industry.
- Hands‑on experience in operational accounting, bookkeeping, and account reconciliations
- Practical, working knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and/or ASPE
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
- High adaptability and comfort operating in a fast-paced environment.
- A reliable, execution‑focused mindset with strong ownership over assigned deliverables
- Experience working with multiple accounting systems and ERPs (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar) preferred
