Low pay for a lot of work
Retail Associate (Former Employee) – Charlottetown, PE – 19 August 2019
Sales associates expected to help customers, clean, and perform changeovers while putting away pallets and pallets of stock everyday because they refuse to hire a night crew. Some of the managers are on a power trip and assert their authority inconsistently, often over ridiculous things. Minimum wage pay with extremely small and infrequent raises. Very few benefits unless you’re a manager or have been there forever. Breaks are timed and you’re required to clock in and out for them even 15’s. I wasn’t even trained and had to learn as I went along, after 5 years there were still basic things I didn’t know how to do because I was never shown. Worked here as a student and was miserable the entire time, management didn’t seem to care that school took priority to my part time job and would make me work Friday night, all day Saturday and all day Sunday every weekend while I was attending school full time because they refused to hire anymore staff. Staff discount was a joke, 10% that you receive back on a gift card 6 months later. Have to pay to attend the staff Christmas party and if you want a sweater so that you don’t freeze to death while working there in the winter. I can barely even bring myself to shop there anymore because of how much I hated it.
Low pay, overworked, understaffed
