Decent casual part time job
Games Coordinator (Current Employee) – Calgary, AB – 19 April 2019
As a games coordinator with the club the job is easy enough and the field staff manager is a great guy. Starting wage is higher than expected with raises available after time and performance bonus at the end of seasons, including refund for league play dependent on hours worked.
Often have to deal with people complaining about rules or not understanding them. All the people who take their respective recreational sport far too seriously and taking out frustrations on you as the GC (pretty much a referee) take a toll on morale and can really wear you down. Upper management is very detached from field staff, no engagement past the field staff manager. Zero advancement opportunities for field staff, all office staff seem to be hired externally. Recognition for work seems to be based on arbitrary things rather than demonstrated hard work. You may get one season every year or two where you are recognized, then you are invisible for the remainder even if your work has improved.
Overall good experience, wage is more than fair and majority of players are friendly, but not somewhere to build a career.
Refundable league play, good wage, flexible scheduling
No advancement opportunities, recognition comes and goes
