job satisfaction depends solely on your direct supervisor. Very little to no chance to ever advance
Senior Utility Technician (Former Employee) – Jupiter, FL – 6 February 2013
TECO was a great place to work given my direct supervisor liked me. I was able to advance in salary over my 16 year career, but I could not advance my position there.
Over the years, new management became increasingly suspicious of field employees and started to track them with GPS. Being a public company and increasing profitability in mind, it was apparrent that higher paid field employees were being replaced with much lower paid/younger employees. Using GPS tracking, and now cameras coming soon in the trucks, management had tools to build a case against their employees.
Overall, the benefits that the company provides the employees are quite good in comparison to other big utilities, but the "culture of fear" management does not suit many individuals who dont require that kind of structured work environment.
great benefits /health insurance/ 401k match/ paid vacation/ pension
management operates on culture of fear
