Overall, I found Sirocco Golf Course a pretty decent place to work. As a cook, I found the Chef and Sous Chef to be helpful, friendly and also generally pretty fun. The food we put out was overall really well done, and events and weddings were well-executed and planned well. The pay is pretty good for Calgary kitchens, the only catch is that you need a car.
In the kitchen, all staff received free uniforms (fresh linen everyday; never wash or bring your own uniform), a free meal every shift, 2$ golf cart rental, free golf club rentals, free driving range, free golfing, and something like 18$/9 holes for everyone you take with you. Plus 35% off food and drink on shift. Also some amount (maybe 25% ) off at the Pro Shop! The best part was that mid-summer, when you are working 6 day work weeks and 9-10 hour days, while you're wanting to pull your hair out - you look at your paycheck and it's probably much bigger than you'd expect to get. And since you're generally always at work, once summer ends you are in a pretty good spot financially.
The job wasn't perfect, but no job is. As with most golf courses, it gets incredibly busy (and hot) during summer, but that dies down quite suddenly once September hits, and then it's easy days until the golf season ends.
This is a good place to work if you do well in fast-paced, and high-volume kitchens. Also, generally if you are a good worker, every year you come back you get a small raise.
