Very poor workplace while I was there
Lifeguard (Former Employee) – Gatineau, QC – 27 October 2019
While I don't know if it has changed since my time there (Summer 2016), Superior Pool was a very unpleasant place to work for. While my coworkers and direct superior were all quite enjoyable, the organization and higher management were an utter nightmare. We lacked basic safety equipment such as particle masks (while working with granulated chlorine daily), schedules were horrible (we had a half-hour break in the midday where we had to both eat and add any needed chemical to the pool, sometimes giving you only ten minutes to actually eat, if that), going to the bathroom was next to impossible as there was no other lifeguard who could cover you. (for a shift that was eight and a half hours long with only one break)
We lost our manager's assistant and any vans we were supposed to have, and it ended with lifeguards having to transport chemicals in the backs of their own cars on their days off to attempt to supply the pools with something, although even so we regularly lacked chlorine and other needed chemicals - and we didn't even get uniforms as we were initially promised. Between the stresses of dealing with pool systems that were breaking down at the location I worked, the meager salary and the outrageous conditions, I don't think I could ever recommend someone work here - though they apparently cut any operations in my city, so it's a moot point regardless.
