Position: Building Maintenance Worker (16-week Summer Job)

Department: Operations

Job Summary: Works in conjunction with the Maintenance Technician, assisting with projects and performing work as necessary for the maintenance of properties and equipment owned by TDCSS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls, painting, etc.
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during repairs and renovations.
  • Assist with installation and removal of appliances and equipment.
  • Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawns, trimming hedges, collecting trash and recycling, etc.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, furnace filters, and updating maintenance logs.
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarms, emergency lights, temperatures on hot water tanks, etc.).
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during repairs and renovations.
  • Fleet detailing.
  • Report issues to the Operations Manager.

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Experience using hand and electrical tools
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical stamina and dexterity
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of an apprenticeship

Additional Information:

Work activities require a moderate level of physical fitness to effectively carry out duties of the position. The successful applicant must adhere to safety protocols in place and wear applicable PPE.

Applicants must be between 19-29 years of age as per the criteria for the summer jobs grant.

Hours: 35 hours per week (Totalling 16 weeks of Summer Work)

Shifts- May include weekends

Salary: $25.19/hr
