Cowichan Valley Youth Services is seeking an Employment and Life Skills Group Facilitator to join our Youth Employment Mentorship Program team. By truly meeting youth where they are at, our team helps co-create the foundation for long term and sustainable employment.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in social services, such as Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience in facilitating groups, with a preference for prior experience in developing and delivering employment and life skills workshops.
  • Experience working with individuals facing multiple barriers is required, with counselling or direct-client support experience preferred.

Requirements & Skills

  • Provide respectful, non-judgmental, and confidential support services to youth participating in CVYS programs.
  • Apply a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach in all interactions.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the YEMP program and communicate clearly with the team.
  • Assess participants’ interests, skills, and abilities, identify obstacles, and assist in arranging employment opportunities.
  • Deliver direct services to clients, including facilitating group workshops, providing individual support, advocacy, community outreach, and education as needed. o Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with employers and community partners.
  • Promote the Wage Subsidy initiative, stay updated on labour market trends.
  • Consult with or refer clients to appropriate community services as needed.
  • Assist with client follow-up calls and job maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain a consultative relationship with the CVYS Executive Director.
  • Provide case-specific information and recommendations verbally and in writing as requested by the CVYS Executive Director.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings at CVYS and collaborate with other staff members.
  • Maintain health-conscious lifestyle choices both in and out of the workplace.
  • Complete a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector screening.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a reliable vehicle.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
