(JRI) is a dynamic rail repair company offering an array of services to industrial customers that rely on the railway to transport and receive their raw goods and/or finished products. Our team is skilled in track design, construction, maintenance, repair, re-railing, and other emergency services for railway industry customers.

We are in the process of expanding our team and are looking to hire a Track Maintainer to add to our crew. This position is an opportunity to gain training and experience in the safe operation of tools and equipment used for the railway industry.

LOCATION: Johnstown, Ontario
Some travel required at the cost of the Employer.

LANGUAGE: English, French is an asset

JOB TYPE: Permanent, Full-time


A Track Maintainer, under the direction of the Foreman, is responsible for:

  • Assisting with track construction, maintenance and repair;
  • Assisting with track inspections;
  • Clearing brush, overgrowth and snow from rail passages as needed;
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in good working order;
  • Assisting with the unloading and distribution of materials at jobsites;
  • Recording job details and use of material/equipment on work orders as needed;
  • Cleaning up jobsites; and
  • Other tasks as required.


  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience in the Railway industry, safety sensitive position, or related field
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Valid Driver’s License, and secure method of transportation
  • Meet and maintain pre-employment testing requirements for physical fitness and impairment free workplace
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Collaborative team member
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed, including travel


  • Knowledge of all aspects of track maintenance
  • Valid Certified Track Inspector (Transport Canada Railway Track Safety Rules) certificate.
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR C + AED training.
  • Post-secondary education in construction, mechanics, or related field
