Thrift Store Delivery Driver

The Delivery Person & Truck Driver (“DPTD”) has the primary responsibility to assist with donation pick-ups and deliveries, moving donations between stores and merchandising to maximize revenue opportunities for the RAPS Thrift Store. Responsibilities also include sales, customer service, sorting, pricing, merchandising and cleaning.

RAPS is a registered charity that also operates the RAPS Cat Sanctuary, the RAPS Adoption & Education Centre, three Thrift Stores and the RAPS Animal Hospital. We are a no-kill, animal serving agency.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Moving donations between Thrift Store locations;
• Coordinating all donation pick-ups, deliveries, loading and unloading of purchased and donated items;
• Able to drive a 3-ton cube truck;
• Able to lift 50+ lbs;
• Handling of donated furniture and household items with caution and care, including special handling of breakable items;
• Organization of furniture so as to utilize space in truck for transport;
• Able to communicate positively and effectively with donors when rejecting donated items deemed in disrepair or otherwise unsuitable for resale;
• Able to take inventory as needed;
• Assist with setting up displays and merchandising as requested;
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks;
• Assist with ringing up sales and providing customer service, as needed;
• Greet and assist customers, as needed;
• Assist with sorting and pricing items that are donated to our stores, as needed;
• Maintain store appearance through cleaning, as needed;
• Cashier duties, as assigned;
• Answer phones, as assigned;
• Effectively communicate store requirements to management;
• Perform all assigned tasks and responsibilities promptly;
• Assist with special store events, as assigned;
• Demonstrate high levels of professionalism when interacting with staff and the public.

Knowledge, Education & Experience:

• Be passionate about animals, and be familiar with, and sympathetic to the goals and mission of the Regional Animal Protection Society;
• Follow and uphold RAPS policies and protocols and complete all tasks to a high standard;

• Capable of heavy lifting, loading and unloading (50+lbs) donated furniture and household items is a must;

• Comfortable driving a one tonne cube truck;
• Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record;

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Experience:

• Driving: 5 years (required)
• delivery driver: 1 year (preferred)
