The position
Under the direction of the Technical Director, the Technical Superintendent Controls the coordination and oversight of vessel’s planned maintenance, repairs, dry docking and engineering projects, ensuring all vessels are maintained in a seaworthy condition and fit for service in accordance with all relevant rules, regulations, and company requirements. The employee will need to travel between locations when required, according to the pertinent projects and the location of the shipyards.
Some of the Job functions for this role will be:
▪ Prepares and evaluates budgets, performance metrics, operating costs, reliability, and all performance metrics to contribute accurate information for relevant and metric-based decision making.
▪ Conducts, audits, and establishes the use of domestic and international regulatory measures and compliance as well as SHEQ measures and procedures to guarantee proper vessel certification, proper processing for the maintenance of the vessels according to all pertinent regulatory and SHEQ standards.
▪ Verifies and determines the approval of technical and operational supplies required for the vessels to ensures that the purchasing of those complies with organizational processes.
▪ Programs maintenance workflows optimizing resources and minimizing down time to organize the allocation of staff ensuring the optimal condition of the fleet
▪ Assist with the supervision of technical staff, through interaction and feedback from Lead hands, providing constructive feedback & coaching as required to ensure that employees understand and follow through with their duties and responsibilities while following company values and safety standards.
▪ Organizes and coordinates contractor’s operational and safety performance to guarantee efficiency in the use of resources allocation and in the repairing of the assets is in line with proper specifications and needs.
▪ Prepares reports to senior management and guides the crew with technical advice to contribute with the optimization of preventive maintenance and asset performance.
▪ Plans, develops, and directs specific engineering projects according to client’s needs to guarantee the fulfillment of client’s technical requirements and guarantee service delivery according to contract specification.
▪ Reacts to change productively to undertake other tasks and responsibilities as assigned and looking after the best interest of the company. The list of functional duties is not exhaustive.

And possess the following minimum requirements:
- 4 to 5 Years of shipping and/or marine industry and Occupational Health & Safety experience in a supervisory level
- Marine Engineer or equivalent license
- Trade/Technical School
- Knowledge in Industry regulations
- Must be able to provide On-Call support
- Must be able to travel within Canada by air
- Must be legally allowed to work in Canada
- Must have a valid BC Driver's License

Estimated Salary Range: The estimated salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to 110,000 per year. The final compensation offer is determined based on several factors, including the successful candidate’s skill set, experience, position location, and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the company’s discretion and presented as part of a comprehensive total compensation package.
