Business is Jammin’ (BIJ) is a province-wide charitable initiative of the Black Business Initiative (BBI) that focuses on motivating Black and minority youth and stresses the importance of education and personal development in all its programs. BIJ’s goals are to deliver a comprehensive enterprise and entrepreneurship learning strategy and instill business skills that will offer long-term benefits to young people. BIJ shapes youth into vibrant members of the business community. We work with young people through a range of educational, social, mentorship, and financial support programs to build business acumen and leadership skills.

Job Summary

We are looking for two energetic individuals to join our team as a Summer Youth Entrepreneurship Coordinator. As the Summer Youth Entrepreneurship Coordinator, you will be delivering several entrepreneurship workshops to youth, exploring the characteristics of an entrepreneur, techniques for idea generation and engaging creative thinking exercises. You will also be responsible for the safety and supervision of the campers during camps, field trips and outdoor activities. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with community organizations when facilitating workshops and program delivery.

DUTIES:

The Summer Youth Entrepreneurship Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Work with schools and community organizations to develop and deliver BIJ programming
  • Expose youth to entrepreneurship through training workshops
  • Develop and conduct workshops, camps, presentations, etc.
  • Provide weekly activity reports to Business is Jammin’ Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a dynamic self-starter who is able to work independently
  • Have experience dealing with youth or interest in youth development
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Project management and presentation skills
  • Experience working in community based or non for profit work settings
  • Interest in entrepreneurship

Eligible Candidates

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs initiative of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy and has specific criteria:

  • You must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Note: this position is not open to International students

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
