The Grove Gallery (Community Arts Council of the Alberni Valley) is excited to offer an opportunity for a dynamic and creative Art Instructor for our Summer Kids Camps. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about the arts and enjoy working with children aged 7 to 13 years. The Art Instructor will lead, develop, and implement fun and engaging art projects that cater to a range of skill levels, promoting creativity and expression among young participants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and lead daily art activities that inspire and engage children from ages 7 to 13.
• Research and develop creative class ideas that are age-appropriate.
• Manage class time effectively to balance prepping for classes, instruction, and clean-up. This includes preparing materials for each class, ensuring all supplies are available and organized.
• Document class activities and communicate regularly with administration, parents and guardians about students’ progress and experiences.
• Adhere to all program guidelines, safety protocols, and administrative requirements.
• Ensure a safe and welcoming environment that is respectful, non judgemental, kind, and inclusive.

Qualifications:

• A passion to research new art activities that are fun and engaging
• Able to communicate clearly and engage with children
• Creative and energetic personality with a passion for arts education
• Experience in teaching art to kids is preferred
• Current background check or willingness to undergo a background check prior to employment.
