Job Summary

Our team is growing, and we are looking to hire a proactive Strategic Sourcing Specialist. Reporting to the Supplier Quality and Strategic Sourcing Manager, an ideal candidate will use strong analytical skills and entrepreneurial spirit to ensure that we have the right amount of product at the right time, at the right cost and quality to meet our goal of providing customer experience excellence, grow revenue and optimize operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

Source New Technologies & Evaluate Vendors:

  • Identify new technologies and suppliers for product development.
  • Evaluate new vendors to ensure high-quality supply.
  • Source various components, including Sensors, Injection molded parts, CNC metal parts, Printed circuit assemblies, Fasteners/O-rings, Springs/metalwork and gold plating

Support New Product Development & Launch Readiness:

  • Purchase parts during new product development before transitioning to the procurement team.
  • Collaborate with engineering during R&D and pre-production phases, including: Vendor selection, Initial cost negotiations, Parts setup, Scalability planning and launch readiness for new product introductions (NPI)

Support Strategic Sourcing Projects:

  • Drive cost-saving and risk reduction initiatives with engineering support.
  • Responsibilities include identifying cost savings, Secondary sourcing, Project scoping and management, Vendor performance evaluation and audits

Critical Parts Plan & Maintenance:

  • Manage critical parts in the supply chain and identify risks (e.g., supplier dependency, geographical risk).
  • Execute risk mitigation strategies, such as: Building raw material stockpiles, Secondary sourcing, Strengthening supplier relationships.

Competencies

Must Have:

  • 3-5 years of related buying/strategic sourcing experience with electronic component distributors/ suppliers, or related hard goods industry experience in a technical environment
  • Strong negotiating skills (price, delivery, and special terms with suppliers)
  • English language competency is required
  • Excel proficiency is a must

Important experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering and/or in Supply Chain or equivalent working experience.
  • Ability to communicate professionally (oral and written) with Mandarin speaking suppliers in Asia.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Business Central ERP, Power BI, JIRA, systems is a strong asset
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Planner, Outlook, SharePoint)

An asset:

  • APICS/SCMP designations are an asset
  • Experience sourcing in Asia (especially China and Vietnam)

Salary Range

Career Band 2- $65,000- $100,000/ year
