About the Position:

The Staff Accountant will be working from our office in Mount Pearl, NL, reporting to the Principal and working alongside the rest of the team. The successful candidate will contribute to various aspects of the accounting function, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial records. This role offers a dynamic environment for professional growth where attention to detail and analytical skills will be instrumental in driving the success of our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of year-end working papers for client year-end engagements as an essential support to our senior team in preparing Compilation, Review Engagement, and Audit year-end files.
  • Reconciliations and preparation of working papers (Microsoft Excel) to substantiate account balances, summaries of transactions, etc.
  • Preparation of personal income tax returns.
  • Oversight of interim-accounting for clients including review and posting of expenses using DEXT, monthly summaries of revenues and deposits, accrual entries, bank reconciliation, and review of overall financial statements including balance sheet and income statements.
  • Preparation of payroll and remittances using a variety of payroll systems. Support with ROEs, T4s, WHSCC, etc. to ensure client compliance.
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We are Looking For:

  • Enrolled in the CPA program of studies, preferably in PEP
  • Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in public practice
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work well with clients and colleagues
  • Interest in acquiring new skills, eagerness to learn new ideas
