Full job description

Job Description:

The sports program coordinator will be responsible for aiding VNB staff in the planning, preparation, and execution of our summer programs as well as the planning and preparation for our fall programs. The candidate will be focused on the indoor Team NB programs as well as helping with the administrative duties for our Provincial Excellence Program (PEP) in coordination with our High-Performance (HP) Indoor Chairs. The successful candidate should be located in or close to Fredericton and be willing to travel around the province to assist with the delivery of relevant programs. The position will start at $18.00/hour for 35 hours a week and can be increased depending on the candidate's experience levels. The position will also require a flexible working schedule with weekend availability to help with events.

Key Responsibilities:

Tasks and relevant programs will include but are not limited to:

  • Helping in the preparation and execution of all Team NB tryouts, events, training sessions, and tournaments.
  • Coordinating registration of athletes.
  • Assisting in communication with the members selected for the relevant programs.
  • Working with High-Performance Chairs, Team NB coaches, volunteers, and HP committees.
  • Helping with basic program budget tracking.
  • Helping to maintain our database for athlete development.
  • Assisting VNB staff with logistics leading up to and during Team NB or PEP event.
  • Helping to create content for social media related to the programs.
  • Other HP indoor-related administrative projects.

Requirements:

Qualities and Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French in written and verbal manners is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of volleyball and playing experience is an asset.
  • Proficient in using Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.
  • Time management.
  • Ability to coordinate with different parties promptly.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in sports and recreation is an asset.
  • Be enrolled in a university degree or college diploma with being in a related program such as Recreation and Sports Studies or a management program being an asset.

Applications will close at 5 pm March 31st, 2024, or until the position is filled.

The expected start date is May 6th, 2024 with an expected end date of August 23rd, 2024. The 16-week job period will have the option to be extended into the fall if possible.
