Scope:
The Shipper/Receiver works in the shipping department of Dörken’s operation in
Beamsville, ON.
Role:
The Shipper/Receiver transfers, ships, receives, and records the movement of parts,
supplies, materials, equipment, and finished products to and from an establishment.
Core Areas of Responsibility:
-Adheres to and promotes a working culture dedicated to health and safety, quality,
and productivity in all aspects of the job. Accountable for workplace safety, quality
and productivity in their work area, with priority order:
1) Health & Safety
2) Quality
3) Productivity
-Ensures that policies and procedures regarding workplace safety (e.g., forklift
safety, securing trailers while loading/unloading, etc.), environmental protection
and optimal use of resources are strictly adhered to at all times, and that shipping
staff perform their work in a safe manner.
-Wears all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and uses appropriate
tools.
-Obtains daily work instructions and documents (e.g., pick notes) from the Shipping
Manager
-Performs safe and accurate loading of orders for shipments, and unloading of
receivables
-Performs general physical activities to load, unload, sort and move shipments by
hand or using material handling equipment
-Receives and examine inbound shipment contents and compare with records such
as manifests, to verify accuracy and good condition of shipment
-Packs, seals, and labels materials to prepare for shipping
-Puts away received materials and finished production materials in the correct
location
-Moves goods into and out of warehouses
-Inspect the quality of received material and ensure there is no physical damage; if
any damage is observed, report to the Shipping Manager
-Ensures FIFO (first in / first out) storage
-Assists in problem solving and root-cause analysis
-Completes incident reports related to Health & Safety issues or material spills
-Performs daily required safety checks on material handling equipment (e.g.,
forklift)
-Performs daily workplace inspections, and takes action as required to ensure a
clean, organized and safe workspace in the shipping and receiving area,
warehouse, and yard. Takes pride in and maintains their clean work environment.
-Completes daily shipping/receiving logs and activity reports, and any other
required documentation
-Occasionally (if requested by supervisor), prepares documents such as bills of
lading and shipping orders to route materials
-Occasionally (if requested by supervisor), contacts carrier to make arrangements
and/or issue instructions for shipping/delivery of materials
-Reports low inventory levels of finished materials
-Reports any damages, inventory deviations, etc.
-Delivers materials to other departments using material handling devices as needed
-Provides orientation and on-the-job training to new/junior staff as directed by
supervisor/management
-Follows company policies without exception (i.e., “Dörken & I” handbook, Safety
Policies/Procedures, etc.).
-Observes preset break times.
-Contributes to a well-functioning production team by demonstrating reliability,
punctuality, and good attendance.
-Performs other duties as delegated by the Shipping Manager or Senior
Management
-Responsibilities and duties may be amended/changed based on company needs
at any time at the sole discretion of the company
-The Shipper/Receiver works under the direction of the Shipping Manager and performs
routine and repetitive tasks. He/she will adjust daily routines based on changing priorities
(e.g., rush orders, production delays, shipping delays, etc.).

Qualificiations:
-Ontario Secondary School Diploma
-Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a warehouse / industrial work
environment
Personal Profile:
-Ability to work as a team player
-Ability to operate forklift (valid certificate “Safe Forklift Operation”), pallet jacks, etc.
-Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English
-Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
-Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory management software
-Demonstrates accountability and responsibility
-Dependable with a positive attitude
-Brings good judgment and enthusiasm to all tasks
-Physically able to sit, stand and walk around for long periods at a time
-Physically able to repeatedly lift 23 kg throughout the workday without assistance
-Reliable transportation to and from work daily
Working Conditions:
-Weekdays: Monday – Friday
-8 am – 4.30 pm (flexible times as required or requested by Management)
-Work schedule may vary based on ever-changing company demands
-Occasional overtime and/or weekend work as required and pre-approved by the
Supply Chain Manager
-100% on-site
