We run a values-based business so fit comes first. Sure, we’ve got a list of knowledge, skills, and abilities we’re looking for in the successful candidate, and we lay those out below. But making sure our values align is critical. Read our values and if we are a match and you can deliver on the job responsibilities and requirements, we hope to hear from you!
We are seeking a seasoned Professional Engineer (Electrical) to assume a crucial role in the engineering and design of electrical sub-systems within hydrogen processing facilities developed by HTEC in British Columbia. The ideal candidate should possess over 12 years of comprehensive experience in both low and medium voltage design, encompassing sub-station, motor controls, hazardous locations, plant operation, and large motor applications. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, dedication to precision, and the ability to manage multiple tasks across various projects are essential for success in this role. Collaboration with project managers, fellow engineers, HTEC Operations groups, consultants, and sub-trades will be a key aspect of the position.

  • Seal electrical drawings and technical documents for British Columbia based projects.
  • Offer ongoing maintenance support for LH2 and electrolysers plants. Including low and medium voltage power distribution and motor control.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites for fieldwork, commissioning, and support.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the EE group.

  • Design knowledge and experience in both LV & MV electrical power distribution systems (5-20 MW).
  • Proficiency in specifying equipment, cables, motors, controls, protective relays, transformers, circuit breakers, LV variable frequency drives, MV/LV motor control centers, and hazardous area equipment.
  • Familiarity with hazardous zone classifications, protection concepts, and equipment selection.
  • Design of medium voltage protection systems (schematics and wiring) and knowledge of protective relays (SEL, GE, ABB, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code C22.1, C22.2, and IEEE Standards related to medium voltage.
  • Experience in utility substations and transmission lines.
  • Electrical power system studies experience (load flow, short circuits, arc flash, motor starting, grounding, etc.).
  • Experience/knowledge of at least one software: ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, EMTP.
  • Motor control and relay schematics.
  • PLC knowledge, wiring, I/O schematics, control systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to write reports and correspond effectively with customers, sub-trades, and utilities.
  • AutoCAD 2D skills with the ability to generate electrical drawings.
  • Maintain a focus on health, safety, and environmental considerations.
