The Position

Under the direction of the Regional Manager, and the guidance of the Director of Technical Operations and the Director of Operations, the Regional Superintendent contributes to the company’s growth by providing day-to-day leadership to crew members and members of the Technical Team, guaranteeing departmental collaboration, timely addressing relationship and operational issues to ensure the provision of services to our clients, and promoting a culture backed up by corporate values.

To apply you must have ALL of the following minimum requirements:

▪ Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, HR, Engineering, Master CoC, or any operations field of study

▪ OR Trade/Technical School + 4-5+ years in a supervisory and/or support role of a large team (over 20 ppl).

▪ Must: Marine Safety, Basic Labour Relations supervising a unionized workforce.

▪ Preferred: Basic Industry regulations & Class Societies

▪ Preferred: Basic Project Management

▪ Excellent Computer Skills. At minimum intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word with the ability to learn quickly other software associated with Plan Maintenance, Scheduling, etc.

▪ Must: Basic experience in technical management and or crewing

▪ Must be able to travel within Canada by air.

▪ Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.

▪ Must have a valid BC Driver's License.

Some of the Job functions for this role will be:

▪ Oversees the day-to-day operations in the northern location by following up with operations, maintenance support, supply chain, HR, Labour relations, SHEQ, and compliance to guarantee the operational reliability of the vessels, and operational availability of the employees and promote a positive workplace culture.

▪ Assist with the supervision of technical staff, through interaction and feedback from Lead hands, providing constructive feedback & coaching as required to ensure that employees understand and follow through with their duties and responsibilities while following company values and safety standards.

▪ Assist with the supervision of crew members, through interaction and feedback from Captains and Deckhands, providing constructive feedback & coaching as required to ensure that employees understand and follow through with their duties and responsibilities while following company values, safety standards, and collective agreement clauses.

▪ Provides HR supervision of vessel crews and technical staff during the whole employee lifecycle including onboarding, performance evaluations, training, mentoring, and assessments to promote a mentally and physically safe work environment, promote employee engagement, and facilitate recruitment and onboarding processes.

▪ Provides SHEQ supervision of crew and technical staff, by training, investigating, or auditing as required to ensure regulatory guidelines are followed and adherence to safety standards becomes part of our daily safety culture.

▪ Reports daily activities, job progress, crew and technical team working times, etc. to Dispatch and Headquarters to ensure collaboration and understanding of the union regulations and memorandum of understanding and guarantee timely finalization of processes and jobs.

▪ Backs up the Regional Manager by providing company representation during incident responses to guarantee timely on-scene availability and appropriate operational and relationship management.

▪ Reacts to change productively to undertake other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
