Full job description

Your Role:

  • Technical Expertise: Designs, enhances, and supports MHI’s OEM hardware and software for delivery of products and service solutions to MHI’s clients. Leads product engineering and manufacturing services, including field/commissioning support for various projects. Design and oversee the manufacturing of printed circuit board-based systems integrating with custom software-controlled systems. Develops detailed functional specifications and oversees implementation of specifications within a team environment.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Supervises individuals and/or project teams, schedules and delegates work, assigns work to individuals and/or teams, and ensures projects are completed to specifications. Responds to complex customer, personnel, and administrative issues. Provides performance and/or technical coaching. Participates on project teams, may lead and/or have overall project responsibility. Represents MHI to our customers and other industry stakeholders. May lead implementation of safety initiatives.
  • Project Management: Ensures that projects are completed as specified on schedule in accordance with MHI’s Quality Management Policy. As assigned, leads the implementation and maintains quality management documentation and processes for the delivery of OEM products and services.
  • Business Development: Performs business development activities such as leading the development of technical proposals, meeting directly with clients in support of determining their needs, attending conferences, participating in technical committees, and writing and presenting technical papers.
  • Research and Development: Participates in meetings and technical conferences to coordinate research activities, present results, solicit and develop new research or laboratory proposals and activities. Leads the development of ongoing research programs identifies and recommends new research initiatives and projects.

About You:

  • A four (4) year degree in Electrical Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position including hardware design, software development, and integrating hardware and software.
  • A Master of Science degree in electrical engineering would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working in all aspects of commercial agreements and the related financial items would be an asset.
  • Experience in computer analysis, modeling and simulation, specifically PSCAD, RTDS, field installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance engineering.
  • Must be a registered professional engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM).
  • Be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Mature judgment, discretion, and ability to work harmoniously in a team setting.
  • Ability to travel and work in a utility / industrial environment. Possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license and qualify for a Canadian Passport. Travel may be required for short durations to facility located both inside and outside of Canada.
