Position Title: Payroll Specialist

Status: Full-Time Permanent

Reports To: Payroll & Benefits Manager

Location: 175 Commerce Valley Drive West, Suite 300, Markham, ON (hybrid role)

The Position:

The Canadian Addiction Treatment Centres (CATC) is currently looking to hire a Payroll Specialist. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for accurate processing and recording of the bi-weekly payroll as well as regular maintenance of the payroll system. In addition, this role is responsible for accurate financial reporting and supporting the Human Resources and Finance teams for special projects and ad hoc reporting.

The Payroll Specialist must have the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail. They must be a pro-active learner and interested in understanding the business and the link between operations and payroll. They must have the ability to handle confidential information while being able to identify and provide solutions for any unexpected challenges that may arise. They must also have the willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities as needed.

Your Responsibilities:

· Provide support and capacity to our Payroll & Benefits Manager

· Prepare and administer bi-weekly payroll

· Audit payroll processing reports for accuracy

· Ensure that all wages are paid accurately and in a timely manner

· Prepare required reconciliations and forms (ROEs, tax forms)

· Assist in the preparation of ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports including all year-end processing requirements

· Assist with employee inquiries concerning payroll administration

· Assist with the processing of payroll changes (new hires, terminations, salary changes, etc.)

· Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes

· Assist with the entry and maintenance of the company benefit programs

· Provide training to new management with respect to ADP processes

What you bring:

· Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in a payroll administrator role

· PLP designation with the National Payroll Institute would be considered an asset

· Experience with ADP WFN preferred

· Experience with full cycle payroll processing, including reporting, and recruitment modules

· Experience with working in a union environment

· Multi-provincial payroll experience

· Knowledge of ESA and taxation

· High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook

· Team player with excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
