Microboards Ontario is an incorporated provincial not-for-profit organization that is committed to promoting and supporting the development of Microboards across Ontario. We are currently seeking a Microboards Coordinator to support individuals, their families and friends with preparing for the incorporation of a Microboard. This position requires strong facilitation skills and a solid understanding of Microboards, the role of directors, and how it supports the decisions and goals of the person in a way that is respectful, sustainable and accountable.

This is a part-time two-year contract position (up to 32 hours/week) that will support up to 20 families per year with incorporating a Microboard and onboarding the directors for up to six months after incorporation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all Microboard members understand their role, responsibilities and understand Supported Decision making and how that impacts a person’s autonomy and independence.
  • Facilitating the creation of a vision statement for the Microboard.
  • Facilitating the first 3-6 meetings of the incorporated Microboard.
  • Supporting the creation of a succession plan.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with ongoing promotion and awareness of Microboards and Microboards Ontario.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of workshops and information sessions.
  • Maintaining contact with Microboards Ontario members and nurturing a strong membership.
  • Always building and maintaining respectful relationships with individuals, families and others.

We are looking for a highly credible, authentic individual who must demonstrate inclusion, equity and belonging, and understand the values and principles upon which Microboards are created. We also seek the following demonstrated experience and skills:

  • Completion of post-secondary education; DSW preferred but not required.
  • 1-3 years working as a Facilitator in the developmental services sector.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft365, Zoom, Teams and Canva.
  • 3-5 years working in the developmental services sector, preferably directly with families.
  • Completion of Understanding Microboards module, available on the Partners for Planning’s Planning and Facilitation Collaborative.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

This Microboards Coordinator role is mostly a work-from-home position with travel and regular meetings. A valid driver’s license, car insurance and vehicle are required. Upon hiring, the incumbent must complete mandatory Microboards training coordinated by Microboards Ontario as well as aCriminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
