Max Insights Research Program Manager – West Central Saskatchewan
We are currently seeking a full-time Research Manager to lead our Max Insights Research Program within West Central Saskatchewan. The specific location is flexible - as long as it’s within our trade area of Plenty, Kerrobert, Luseland, Kindersley, Eston, Elrose, Rosetown or Biggar areas.
Max Ag Consulting Ltd. is an independent agronomy consulting company based out of Plenty, SK, and serving west central Saskatchewan. Our Mission is on providing advice and services to our customers to increase the yields and profitability of their farming operations. Currently we service over 285,000 acres in our trade area with multiple service offerings including full-service field scouting, SWAT MAPS variable rate fertility & seed, Crop Intelligence moisture probes and other services.
Max Insights was launched in 2023 to help us further our knowledge and strengthen our recommendations to our customers in keeping to our Mission. This field scale research program has three goals in mind:
1) Validating and Improving the Use of Products & Agronomic Practices
2) The Scientific Evaluation and Testing of Selected Practices
3) And Gaining Information to Guide Future Management Decisions.
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Manage field scale research program - including development of trial protocols, trial placement, execution of program and statistical analysis.
- Create trial protocol quotes and proposals- collaborate with other industry members for trial execution.
- Conduct field evaluations throughout the growing season, including assessments on plant height, plant counts, plant tissue tests, water infiltration rate, etc.
- Conduct data analysis through statistical software regarding yield data, fertility and seed recommendations and soil moisture data.
- Summarize statistical analysis results and in season information to produce trial reports.
- Organize and execute a field day tour with research program collaborators, customers, etc.
- Organize and execute our annual Max Insights meeting to present the year’s trial program and results with Max Ag customers.
- Be knowledgeable of current agronomic practices and government agricultural programs.
- Actively maintain up to date knowledge of current industry best practices and trends and communicate relevant information to growers and clients.
- Investigate and evaluate potential opportunities to provide further value to our customers.
- Willingness to work in an outdoor setting, along with overtime as needed during peak season.
- Ability to work out of a home office when not performing in-field functions.
Qualifications
- A post-secondary degree in Agriculture or related field. A Masters Degree is not required but is valued highly for the role.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of agriculture research experience, with statistical analysis experience preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Thorough knowledge of agricultural software programs and applications.
- Strong demonstrated communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently but also believes in collaboration and team synergy.
- Innovative thinker that solves problems with insight and intuition.
- The knack of being curious and wanting to explore the industry.
